What is St Patrick’s Day?

When was the first St Patrick’s Day celebrated?

While people in Ireland had celebrated the holiday since around the 9th or 10th century, the tradition of a St. Patrick’s Day parade began in America.

The first parade took place in Boston in 1737. Since then, the holiday has become a widely celebrated event in the United States and around the world. 

One of the most famous St. Patrick’s Day celebrations takes place in New York City. Held annually since 1762, the celebration is one of the largest in the world. Every year, hundreds and thousands of visitors and participants flock to the Big Apple that day!
